As
a young boy, one of Steven
Kellogg's favorite
activities was called Telling
Stories on Paper.
Kellogg would sit
between younger sisters
with a stack of paper on
his lap and a pencil in
his hand, rattling off
tales and scribbling
illustrations to
accompany them, and
passing the pictures
first to

one of the
girls and then to the
other. Many years and
ninety books later,
Kellogg has created our
favorite books,
including his own
retellings of Johnny
Appleseed, Paul Bunyan,
Pecos Bill, and
the latest in paperback
books: A-Hunting
We Will Go!

 From
award-winning author and illustrator
Steven Kellogg and author Joanne Ryder,
comes a lively and boisterous read-aloud
verse featuring bears at a jubilant midnight
ball. "A colorful remake, thanks to a set
of typically effervescent illustrations
from Kellogg" — Kirkus Reveiws.

 In
this story based on a traditional
refrain, Steven Kellogg brings
together an energetic group of kids
that simply refuse to go to bed.
What will they do instead?
They’ll gather a lovable
team of animal friends and set off
on a carefree adventure that takes
them from woodlands to
waterfalls—and then to even wilder
wonderlands, where the sun doesn’t
set until the kids are good and
ready!

Steven Kellogg talks about the folk
song that inspired this charming
bedtime story:
The
folk song “A-Hunting We Will Go”
has existed for over three hundred
years.
It has been associated with
several different tunes—some of
which have blended with similar
songs, including “The Farmer in
the Dell”—as well as a variety
of line and ring dances, “grab”
games, double-rank dances, and
kissing games…
